Employer plans

Employer switch tracking starts with the October 2026 edition, the first month with two carrier snapshots to compare.

How this is built

  • Drug moves compare two CMS monthly Part D formulary files, formulary by formulary, for the 500 most prescribed Part D drugs by 2024 Medicare claims (485 of them appear on formularies in the newer file). A move is a drug that appears on, or disappears from, a formulary present in both files.
  • Employer switches compare public employer network files from two large commercial carriers month over month. A switch is an employer plan that leaves one carrier and joins the other in the same month.
  • No plan names, tiers or patient data on this page. Facts only: this page does not recommend any drug, plan or benefit design. Read the method.

Not medical advice. This page describes insurance coverage data and policy documents. It is not medical, legal, or benefits advice, and it is not a recommendation to take, prescribe, or switch any medication. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about treatment decisions.

Not a coverage guarantee. Coverage, tier, prior authorization, step therapy, and quantity-limit data are compiled from CMS public files and plan documents dated August 19, 2026. Plans change formularies during the year and individual coverage depends on your specific plan, pharmacy, and coverage phase. Always verify with your plan's current formulary documents or by calling the number on your member ID card. Medicare beneficiaries can compare plans at Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE.
